Intelezi African Herbs was established more than 20 years ago to supply and source medicinal plants for the national and international markets. We cultivate medicinal plant species and also have a network of community groups across the whole continent who grow medicinal, aromatic and nutritious plants allowing us to sustainably source these precious resources. We are also closely involved in phyto-chemical research and phyto-prospecting for new and interesting chemical components in the bio-diverse African continent. Over the years we have developed and piloted a number of finished products for our clients including pills, capsules, extracts and creams, however, our main business is the bulk supply of herbs, and facilitating technical research.

WHO WE ARE
The company was established over 15 years ago by Dominic Mitchell, who has been passionate about medicinal plants and phyto-chemistry since his childhood. He learned initially about medicinal plants from his mother. He has also been involved in sustainable forest management and the establishment of associations for sustainable harvesting. He is fluent in several African indigenous languages and is also a qualified socio-economist.
HOW WE WORK
Intelezi African Herbs grows a limited number of medicinal plant species, we out-source growing to small farmers and community groups, and also sustainably harvest a small amount of product from the wild. We believe that partnerships with other companies and academic institutions result in the generation of opportunities and knowledge.
